235 inline Chevy 6
Hi,
Looking for the current best thoughts and guidance on "Street rodding" a 235 6 cylinder Chevy. NOT looking to beat any drag strip records, just have some fun. Cheers. Stovebolt #1 |
what year engine we talking about? first thing I would do to any 235 is put a Corvette cam in it, it's ground just a bit hotter than the regular model cam and available new/ regrinds. put a set of fenton headders on it and a 2 carb intake manifold. you could shave the head a little to gain compression if you wanted.

yep, forgot about them. as I remember there is a sought after 12 port head you can get for them also.

That's what I put in my '53 Chevy pickup. Shaved the head 1/10" for ~9,5:1 compression, hardened valve seats, warm camshaft, converted the stock distributor with Chrysler electronic innards, Fenton headers, Clifford aluminum intake w/ 390cfm Holley, Offy aluminum covers, and anything that isn't chrome or polished aluminum is powder coated white. Adapted it to a 200R4 OD tranny w/ a Stovebolt Engine Co. adapter, In short, go for it, they make great warmed up street engines and a welcome change from the ubiquitous and boring SBC.
