250 series weiand blower noise

I have read a couple of articles discussing the various noises from blowers. I am experiencing similar problems. My 250 series blower makes a horrible metallic knocking. Holley's instruction manual tells one that this is normal and that the blower when new will sound like very loose tappets. Well when I could'nt take the noise any longer I stripped the blower to find that the rotors has contacted and picked up some ali in the process. I have cleaned the rotors up and checked clearances which seem to be within tolerance say .010 to .015 checked with feeler gauge. When I rotate the pulley back anfd forth there is a slight knock? I am running a 30 tooth pulley which gives a 1.86 overdrive . At 6000 rpm blower will be running at 11 200 rpm which I believe is still below the maximum allowed of say 13 000 RPM. Questions are:

Is it acceptable to clean up and refinish rotor surfaces. Aluminium no coatings?
How much damage can fine aluminium particles in suspension in the intake charge do to cylinder walls?

Rotor casing is still ok.
Bearings back and front seem ok. but noise still a worry.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I had the same problem when i first got mine...the rotors were making contact, ever so lightly but enough to make a terrible noice..The rotors need to timed..in sync, or it will ruin your blower...and engine.I took mine in to dmpe and had it reconditioned, and for street use, do not strip the blower..
