Anyone know what axle spline came in a '84 Pontiac Grand Prix? I want to buy a positraction rear diff but don't want to get the wrong one.

I believe it to be a 7.5" 10 bolt open rear diff, I looked for the casting number on the axle tube but can't find it. Once I get the car jacked up I'll take a grinder with a wire brush to it to try and find it. Anyone know where I should be looking?

The spline count is 26. I have this same rear in my 86 Cutlass, all I did was find a F-body posi rear and swapped guts. I have the codes on the F body rears. if your interested in this swap let me know and I`ll post the codes, it`s about the cheapest way out, the 82-87 F-body`s had posi rears as optional, so there a little hard to find but not too bad, the last one I got was out of a junked 83 T/A that had a 3.23 posi and disc brakes, I haven`t used the rear in anything, but we put the guts to use in a friends cutlass. all we did was clean it up, got a new crush sleve and seals and set the toe, heel, backlash and added a can of GM posi lube to eliminate the chatter and it`s ran ever since, and the rear cost us $150.
