do you think there will be a balace issue with the miss-matched piston and connecting rod? they look totally different from the rest.

Balance? Why worry about the balance when there are chunks missing out of the block? If someone will tell you to use it, ask them to warranty their advice, and reimberse you if it fails. I think it would make a great anchor for my Bassboat. Watch out fishies, I'm a-droppin' my anchor.

As far as the whole structural argument stands, I'd agree for an engine that's expected to last for 100k miles, or a high-performance build. For an occasional cruiser or mild performance I see nothing wrong with it.

Or find a good block at the boneyard if they're 'littered' with 283s.

EDIT: I don't do a lot of engine building, but this is from what I've come to the conclusion after reading everyone's posts.

You can have that block fixed. I fixed a gazillion small blocks that have blown up that way.


If you like the little engine, you can fix it.

the reason i was wondering about the balance issue is if i used the internals in a different block.
