283 Main Bearings
I am installing a newly machined crank shaft into a 283 Chevy engine. The specs call for .003 to .011 end play. The dial indicator indicates I have .014. I need a source of some one who makes a .020 over main bearing with a .010 over thrust face on the rear bearing. I have found bearing with these dimensions for a lot of other engines such as the 327 and 350 but I can't find any for a 283 small block. Does any one have a phone number for some one who might have this item??
Thanks, Tom |

Check with your local engine parts supplier. A lot of bearing company's build a over size thrust bearing but don't list it in normal catalog because it is a special order item only. Keep in mind you will have to have your crank thrust ground by a crank grinder.
