283 question

I have a 283 with 305 heads on it and a worn out 2 barrel.
Just found a 327 intake and Carter AFB.Wil this work?
What is the advantage of 305 heads?

The 327 intake should bolt on without any problems. There is no advantage to 305 heads except on certain 305 heads the ports and valves were bigger than the plain stocker 283 heads. But the 305 head has the small combustion chamber same as the 283`s did, and the small valve helps with low end torque.

When I was looking into building my 283 the machinist said that 305 heads are not the best choice, he did something about combustion chamber style being kidney shaped and that stock heads updated to hardened seat wil make better power, and be less prone to detonation, True or urban legend I cant tell you but when I git around to building mine I think that I'll go after market S/R torquers. Yes the intake should go on just fine. Good luck hope that it runs good for ya
