Looking for recomendations for a rumpty-rump cam for a 289 Ford engine in my '51 Mercury. I don't intend to race the car, I've got a 9 second '70 Camaro for that but just want the "3/4 race cam" rough idle to add to the car's persona. Don't mind if the cam is mechanical (hell, I think I would prerfer mechanical - taking the valve covers off this engine is a walk in the park compared to the Camaro - takes about one minute per side).
The engine is already equipted with an Edelbrock 4Bbl (don't know the c.f.m. and any hints on how to identify that would be appreciated), Edelbrock Performer intake, some kind of hydraulic cam (it has a hint of a rough idle), block-hugger headers, and Malory Unilite distributor with Mallory Promaster coil.
Any suggestions? and help in identifying the carb c.f.m.?
