292 From 64 Ford

ok, got a parts truck a 1964 Ford F100 for 50 bucks. It aint in bad shape but as a first timer at tearing down any engine I was curious what others opinions are in tearing down the 292 in it and adding a few performance parts while re building.

While the Y-block Ford is a rather pretty motor to look at when dolled up with finned rocker covers and such, it is just about the last motor on the planet that I would spend money on to try to make it fast due to the lackluster heads.

If I were going to add some juice to it, I'd probably do it with a blower, because a blower doesn't care what the heads flow like, it just pushes the air through them regardless.

If you want to go fast with the truck for the least amount of money, transplant a 460 into the engine bay.
