292 engine and 4/5 speed trans questions questions

I'm finally finished the demolition mode and entering the rebuild mode with my 52 Chevy pickup. I have a few questions:
I want to use a 292 6 cyl engine. Any helpful hints on installation problems / challenges?
Which 4 / 5 speed transmission would I consider looking for?
I want to keep the straight axle front end, and want power steering too. I've seen adapter kits available, but would like to know if they are as slick as they look in the ads?? Same goes for power brake adapter kits.

The basic question goes to what are you doing to the drive shaft, is it still a torque tube or have you, or do you want, an open shaft? This will play into what the transmission can be.

Thanks for your reply. I will be changing the rear end as well, so I will be going with an open drive shaft that I will build to fit.
