292 with saginaw 4 speed?
Bill Dunn from Saccramento working on a beat up 66 chevy pickup 2wd lwb fleetside. Recently given a unwanted gm goodwrench 292 still in the crate. I have (2) 3 speeds and (1) sm465. I want a V8 with automatic but lack the funds so it's going to be a a 292 and a manual transmission. The truck has a 400 with a 3 speed, orginally had a 283. I'm wondering if a saginaw 4 speed will work with original rearend and the 292.

I don't see any problem with using the Saginaw 4-speed.
The 292 should have plenty of grunt to move most anything you put it in. They just don't like to rev very high, but they weren't made for that either. |
