3.89 to 3.42 gears, what about my cam?
i just sold the 9" ford i had in my 85 ss monte carlo. i bought a 8.5" 3.42 posi rear end from a grand national to go back in it's place. now before anybody ask's, i wanted to go back all GM.
i'm running a 406 sbc with dart pro-1 215cc heads, 72cc chambers, 2.05-1.6 valves, flat top pistons, solid ultradyne cam 250-260 @.050" .530-.552 lift with a 108 l/s. victor jr, holley 750 double pumper, 3500 stall, 350 turbo, & hooker super comp 1 3/4 headers.
my question is, will the cam still go with the new 3.42 geared rear end? i think it will match better myself, due to the low 108 l/s, but would like your opinion's too.
i know this is more cam than most of you would run, but it's not a every day driver, i don't drive it much & when i do i want it to be as Stout as it can be.
i've thought about a Competition Cams #12-224-4 294s RPM range 2500-6500, .525/.525 valve lift,Duration at .050" 248/248 , Adv. duration 294/294, 110 l/s.
i honestly don't think there is enough difference between the two cams to justify changing them out.
