What kind of fuel are you running? MTBE can be hard on rubber parts if it's in a high enough concentration. We get 20% in the winter here in Arizona and so far so good on my engines.

What exactally is swelling and sticking? I don't recall any rubber parts in a 2gc enrichment valve or actuator. The valve is brass and the actuator is metal in the carb bore with a spring. I'm cornfused! LOL

Maybe he means the accelerator pump? That's about the only rubber piece on the carb! LOL If that is happening, there are better pumps on the market. The newest one is blue nitrile and more resistant to ethenol and toxic crap.

Accelerator pump

You are right - sorry for the confusion. I was talking about the accelerator pump(s).

Now my mechanic says he doesn't think it is the accelerator pump this time it is simply an idle problem. Apparently the cam is so radical (or so he tells me -my engine builder disagrees) that the engine continues to run (even after the engine is turned off). If we idle it down any more, the engine dies in gear while at red lights. Bad situation. Solutions? rvk

Rig up a fast idle soenoid that you will disengage when the ignition is off.
