3 speed transmission on longer trips?

I am wondering how my 350th transmission would do on longer trips. I not wanting to across County more like 4 hours at the most. My trans has a shift kit and a stall tongue converter with the 3500 stall. Thanks

If it were mine I wouldn't worry about it. Plenty of guys driving all over with these types of setups, even over long distances.

I've you're concerned just put on an auxilliary trans cooler. That higher stall will make higher heat.

Beware that if the vehicle has extremely tall rear end gears and is fairly heavy the convertor is never going to get anywhere near lock up. Way back when I was in High school my best friend had a 79 Firebird that had the factory 2.49 gears in it. He put in a 3500 stall convertor in it. It was awfull at cruise. Everyone thought ithe tranny was slipping until you stepped on it.

It's never going to win a gas milage race but unless the cam is really big that's plenty of gear. However unless you really need a 3500 rpm a tighter convertor would be better.

run an external cooler and maybe drop the pan/ change the fluid and filter if you haven't done so since you've had the car.
