30 model A sedan
 
ok so im trying to find an original body for my hot rod project but diffrent people are telling me diffrent things. (i want to build a custom chop-top sedan) some people tell me a model a frame with a t body. or all sorts of things. what are the diffrences in the t body and the a body?

Personally I don't think there is a big enough difference in anything other than some measurements and appearance. How about other makes? There are much better deals out there on "off brands" like Chrysler products from the 20's they are MUCH cheaper.

30 model A sedan
 
im looking at a 30 model A sedan, i want to shop top and make it my own custom hot rod. the one im looking at is a bit ruff. mostly surface rust but bottom is showing some holes. and he said the sub frame is gunna need work aswell. it has doors, no glass just bare body. hes asking $1000. and it would cost me approx. $900 in gas and 2 days sraight driving round trip. my question is what is the value of one of these bodys in this condition. id like to know cuz basically im spending 2grand on this. i live in arlington, wa and i cant find anything anywhere near my area

I don't know the value of it but I sure see easier ways. At the last swap meet out at the Goodguys in Pleasanton Ca there was a super nice 30 Model A coupe, complete, we are talking a driver. It had a super solid body with fiberglass fenders. It was an old or original paint on it so it wasn't just covered with bondo or something. It looked very solid and it was $3500.

I am thinking you need to keep looking.

Does it come with a title? Have you ever taken on a project of this magnitude? Me personally, I would pass. I was gonna go that route, ended up buying a complete '31 Tudor Sedan for $6500. You can get pretty much everything or a Model A. Just how motivated are you? Good luck.

the VIN is on the motor not the body so i couldnt get a title with it. im building a custom hotrod and dont want fiberglass. id like a metal body, gives me more freedom to customize. and i just plain dont want fiberglass. its definitely going to have to get it inspected VINed and licenced. thats not too hard.

You gotta sharpen your search skills. THere's a whole bunch of A's in washington and oregon.
Search craigslist.
I just did a 2 minute search and there's so many I can't decide which one to give you a link to.
Also try searchtempest.

The VIN is on the frame also. :D
Model A sedans ... are one of the most produced body styles in 1928/1929/1930/1931. You just need to look a little harder and longer.

1928/1929 bodies are almost the same ...

The main difference is the cowl. A 1930/1931 has slightly more foot room.
A lot of Hot Rod Model A are built on a 1932 Ford chassis. The frame is much more sturdy and also has 2.5 inches more wheelbase. :D

i guess my searching skills do suck. my problem is when i go on to craigslist i cant just pick washington and search. u have to go all the way down to city and that reduces my search results to nothing
