Kinda of a tight chassis, isn't it?
Anyways, the exhaust manifolds off the BIRD is most likely what is making them mad. And I imagine you have a column shift (auto or manual).
- First, you may (most likely will) have to install a floor shifter.
- You have a choice of either origional exhaust manifolds (with Y-Pipe and single exhaust).
- A set of 289 HiPo exhaust manifolds (available quality repro).
- <a href="http://www.hedman.com/pages/hedmanmain.html" target="_blank">-Hedman Headers-</a> makes a shorty set for the 1963 to 1973 Fairlane body. PN 88400.
I would talk with their TechLine before ordering as the 1962 apron was just a little narrower than the 1963. The 1962 apron was later supersceded (crash replacement) to the 1963. So see if there is any problem there.
Same with the 289 Hipo's. They were designed for the 1963 aprons. There are kits available to widen
the spring towers. You might have to go this route.
Talk to Hedman Monday and let us know what they say.
