302 build help

Hey all, been gone a little while as i had ot put one of my projects on hold ot finish up another (finished my 3.4L DOHC fiero swap...)

Anyways. The engine is a fox body mustang 5.0HO with factory forged pistons but it has been converted to carb using a 289 Torquer intake manifold. So far have not gotten a lot of mods done, but i will post everything i have done and plan to do.
Also the engine and trans (T-5) is in a 1990 Mazda RX7 so keep that i mind when i mention some stuff down further...

-got rid of the A/C
-complete set of BBK underdrive pulleys
-dual remote mount oil filter kit with twin WIX filters
-hooked up to the factory RX7 oil cooler (23" X 5" X 2.5")
-NOS wet nitrous system running a 200 shot (cheater kit up to 300 shot)
-Fox body long tube headers (1 5/8" with 3" collectors)
-dual 3" exhaust from headers back to an x-pipe then out a mindtrain 2.5" dual "catback" exhaust (sold for about $2K new)
-gasket matched and polished heads(E6SE) and intake(torquer)
-ROL "race" head gaskets

To Do:
1.6 roller rockers
ignition system

Now i am looking for advice on a carb and ignition system. I was thinking a holley 600CFM. As for the ignition i was thinking an MSD 6-BTM, Pro Comp HEI coil, and a 50K/65K HEI dist. along with a good set of wires and plugs

I am still rinning the stock E7TE heads with the gasket match and polishing, stock cam as well, i will be putting in new lifters and pushrods, should i upgrade to roller rockers? if so just the 1.6 correct?

any suggestions?

Well, if you give up bottom with the manifold and top with the heads, what's left? Maybe it'll run pretty well at mid?

In my opinion, you should re-think your whole combination.

I am not going to pump anymore money in it than i have to because i am going to be building a 408W before too long... So far everything i have bought with transfer right over to the 408W. When that engine gets built i will be pulling the roller rockers off and getting a nice set of aluminum heads for it.

As far as rethinking everything... I pretty much have everything already except the ignition, carb and roller rockers. I know it isnt a great setup, but it is what i have laying aoround so i might as well use it for a little while... And i am going to spray the crap out of the engine as i am not too worried about splitting the block so it should run like a raped ape no matter what.

If your using nitrous you need more cam. A open plane intake is for upper rpm performance, the stock cam is for low rpm torque and pretty much useless past 4000 rpm. If the engine can`t breathe it won`t make power no matter how much nitrous you spray to it as the cam will limit the amount it can take in. Fords suffer from a small kinked exhaust port, I would have focused my porting efforts on it. If the engine has a stock timing chain that has slack, then you`ll be spraying a time bomb. The 600 carb will work, and the ignition will as well. If you mean full roller rockers you`ll need to set up a magnet and screen system to keep stuff out of the oil pan when one comes apart. A roller tip rocker will only help if it has a higher ratio. Tech said what he did as the combo is lop sided, but it will work, just not as well as it should.
