302 Casting numbers
I have a 1965 Mustang I am trying to rebuild. It use to have a 6 cylinder in it but the guy I bought it from put a 302 in it. He thought the motor came out of a 1974 Ford station wagon but he wasnt sure I have the casting number from the block
D90E-6015-E3A I am having truble finding a website that can help me decode it and find out what i really have. If anyone can help I would really appreciate it. Thanks |

The casting no. prefix (D9OE) identifies the block as first being cast in 1979 (302). This block was used from 1978 until 1981. The E3A will indicate any design changes from the first casting. Directly above it should be a date code. That will be the date the block was cast.
