The number that you are looking at may not be the one that you want. That sounds like the one near the head. If so, you need the one from the rear near the bell housing. It should be something like 3892657, 3914678, 3932386, 3956618, 3976618, or 3970010. The fact that the number had a DZ in it makes me suspicious that you are correct. The 69 Z28 302 motor was called a DZ. Once you find the number off of the rear, you should find another large number pertruding out of the side of the block that will be a 350 ect. Some of these 393XXX.. numbers were the same for a 302, 327, and 350. Here's a website to help you after you get the other number:www.mortec.com/location.html or <a href="http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/5654/cblkcast.html" target="_blank">www.geocities.com/MotorCity/5654/cblkcast.html</a>

It sounds like you have a 69 Z28, 302, 290 hp, 4 speed engine. Good Luck!

Slwoso, if you have a original chevy 302 and want to get rid of it let me know if not, worth a shot, good luck

The chevy 302 was originally made to compete in the trans am class, it was put into many camaro's from 67-69

Thumbs up

Slowoso.....If the vin on your block is 3970010 you might want to run the vin on your crank. From what I understand the 302 only came in a 4 bolt main so if its a 2 bolt it will probably be either a 327 or 350. The 302 had a 3.00" stroke (327=3.25" stroke & 350=3.48" stroke) and the vin on the crank will be diffenent than a 350 & 327. Hope this helps. You can run those vin numbers at http://www.mortec.com/cranks.htm
