I think the differences are the HO has forged pistons, 60mm throtle body instead of a 55, except the '86 HO still had a 55, and a roller cam with the 351 fireing order.

the 87-93 302 ho's rated at 225hp 300 Torque.. good motors respond well to mods.. The long block is nice for boost.. supercharge or turbo(like me) and the block will be the weakest link.. at around 500 hp and up can cause the block to slowly split down the middle.. might be months or years tho. That being said I've seen dyno runs of 780 tubrocharged hp with the stock block and rotating assembly.. 190k miles on the clock. Not saying the block will last long at those levels tho... I'm betting the block is on borrowed time at that point. They are different for different years.. The heads were also pretty nice for a stock ford engine. they can make very good power with a little port and a good intake, cam etc Good power band and low end torque.. My ranger before I turbo'd it was a blast with trickflow intake, bigger throttle body, Nice headers, H-pipe, a few other minor tweeks.. It ran great fun to drive.. will be more fun with 400-500hp with the turbos.. once I finish tuning
