305/350 flywheel

I was wondering if a flywheel off of a 350 will fit on a 305. My 305 has a crack in the flywheel, and i have a 350 that i am not using. Does balancing interfere? I asked a friend and he said that balancing might be different.

the only difference in SBC flexplates and flywheels is there size, one is the 153 tooth 12 3/4 inch job which uses the straight pattern starter, the other is the 168 tooth 14 inch job that uses the staggered pattern starter. however, the 400 small block used a externally balanced flexplate/flywheel, and it should not be used on any other small block. in 1986 when chevy went to a 1 piece rear main crankshaft seal, the flange was made round and weights were added to the flexplate/flywheel, it was externally balanced and the mounting flange made smaller, so it won`t interchange with older small blocks, the 305 and 350 pieces are interchangeable as long as both engines are genration 1 or both are generation 2, just measure the size, and match the starter to it.
