among the SBC family from the late 60's to 87 most all accessories can be swaped as complete setups and some parts can be mix and matched,it depends on what you have and what you need.
there are lots of variations and lots of possibilities so you shouldn't have much trouble making it work. |

ok.. because on alot of parts i was reading "up to 86" and i was just wondering if that included 86 or not lol. thanks for the help though..
One other thing.. if i am using an intake electric fuel pump.. i just need to get a blockoff plate for my mechanical fuel pump location correct? |

water pumps vavle covers oil pans all that stuff interchanges from 283to400 sm blk some varations on short or long water pumps but they all look the same on the outside,the heads will swap too you'll gain some comp from the 305 heads but you'll lose high rpm power from the small valves,some flywheels are diff they used a diff starter not sure what year but they did,and harmonic balancers are diff too so keep a keen eye for that too.good luck
oh yeah some hipo heads and vette heads didn't have the assesory holes in the heads for the conventional hook ups for power assec,check your casting numbers at mortech |

yeah in 87 they changed the intake bols and heads to center bolt valve covers and 1 piece rear main too.yeah get a block of plate and if you take out the pumprod don't forget to leave a bolt in the hole in the front or it will leak oil.
it'll all fit if you got the holes to mount it,all sm blk have the same outside diminsions |

ok thanks for that tip... i have i think 74 cc heads i cant remember.. i checked before.. but dont remember.. im probably going to send them to this place i saw online.. get them to port them for me.. they CLAIM to get 40 hp gains from their porting... may be possible.. may not.. they sell the heads they already ported and assembled for around 500 bucks.. but i wanna see if they'll port mine for cheaper since they are using my heads instead of theirs
