305 Bobweight/Flywheel Balance

I have a stock 1987 5-Speed Camaro 305 TPI engine. I replaced the original flywheel with a new stock GM flywheel and tossed the original flywheel. The engine now has a vibration that I'm convinced is being caused by the new flywheel.

I was told recently that this new flywheel is manufactured to fit either a 350 or a 305, but that the two engines have different bobweights. Thus the new flywheel may very well not be properly balanced for my engine.

What can I do to fix this issue?

T otal Bob weight is different, yes. But that figure is on the inside of the motor. The 305 and 350 flexplates are interchangable. Unless the engine had a major balance correction at the factory.

I have seen factory wheels with added weights or drill marks that can only be corrected by balancing the new flexplate to the old..
