Post 305 heads and a 350......not good.....so I am thinking this..

Yea, Im a *******.

Know about 150% more about engines and everything then I did last Spring/Summer when I built this engine. I did a good job except for the heads.

They are 305 HO heads, rebuilt with stainless valves. 1.94/1.50 with 3 angle valve job and high lift valves springs. 520 lift. 58cc chambers

Ill definetly have problems with detonation if I keep them and they wont flow near enough to get me what I want.

So I just froze my ****ing *** off tonight and took the *****es off. Gonna take the money Im getting back from taxes and buy a new pair of heads.

What am I looking to spend? Anywhere from $400-$900. Would like a set of heads that will accomodate the domed pistons I have. Only a .125 dome though. Anyone have any suggestions. I have lots but just getting some more opinions for the hell of it.

OH yea,

I am not really concerned about compression and keeping it around 9:1 because I live at nearly 7000ft and it doesnt get much lower then 6000ft around here...so I am actually down in compression.

As long as I am safe from detonation, its all good. Dad has 10.5:1 pistons in his 68 Camaro and it runs fine with no detonation.

your gonna be stuck with 76cc chambered heads running domed pistons and possibly a thicker head gasket. it maybe a good idea to go over your domes and make sure there are no sharp edges, if there are, sand them smooth. sharp edges create hot spots and create more detonation.

In your price range, it is hard to beat the Vortec head (around 500 a set new)

Only thing is it will require a new intake

IDK anything about the heads Redrocket linked. I couldn't get the price list to come up.......

They're $589/pair for bare heads, and a little under &900 assembled. It looks like you can spend more if you want 'em CNC ported.

Only other problem is my domed pistons.

Its only a .125" dome. Not that big, but am I gonna have problems with the piston hitting? Cam's lift is .464".

Keep hearing how I cant use anything BUT a 76cc head but these 305 heads cleared the piston fine. So what is everyone telling me this for? I know the compression is gonna get bumped up a bunch but ****, living at 6000-7000ft drops the compression. I dont think I will have detonation problems.

But some heads have diff shaped combustion chambers. I have Speed Pro Hypereuctic pistons. I was gonna go for AFR's or Trick Flows but was told I couldnt unless I used their pistons.

Can someone ellaborate on this for me?

really?

Hmm...well they are newly rebuilt. Paid $400 for them but not looking to get that of course.

What do you think they are worth? If you want to know what has been done to them, let me know.
