How many miles on the motor? We had a camino 305 and they were infamous for bad cams. Get the heads done, different intake, cam, headers and you'll see an improvement. 305's weren't really performance motors, from the little I know about them, what about dropping in a 350?? You can get crate motors cheap, maybe an idea.

Lift off the air breather, install 350, replace breather. Just joking with you, but it would be the best step twords having power.

The 305 is in my 83 el camino ss it only has 55,682 miles on it. We were thinking about dropping a 327 ci 375 hp motor in it but they are hard to find aroud here, so I figured just to try to find some performance parts for it.

I know this may sound stupid, but ebay motors, engine section, there are a few engine builders offering warranties on their engines. they range around $2,500 - $4,000 for 380-480hp motors. You really couldn't build one that cheap much less get a warranty. I have never bought, nor do I know anyone who has, but I thought of looking into it myself for the next project.

world products sells a 305 head. get the optional bowl blend from them or a local machine shop put in an extreme energy cam from comp a decent intake and carb to match the cam and a sniper NOS kit with a 75hp shot (it is safe on stock pistons) and presto Quick 305.

start with a new cam and lifters- (decide on a cam
fist then look into changing other parts to
bring out the power.

my personal sugestion is a comp cams h270 or the next size down (magnum series)

with this cam (270) you want headers and flowmasters to start with then look into
intake and carb swap (performer rpm and
holly 650 dbl pumper).

the 270 cam can be run without a higher stall
converter. but lower gearing is a good help.

good luck

I have a 305 in my 85 olds cutlass its power is not bad but the first thing I'd do if you can avoid the smog police is cut off that big cataltic converter off did wonders for mine. Just a thought.
