305 sbc harmonic ballancer and a 350 sbc ballancer

hi i have a 1982 sbc 305 and i have a 1974 350 sbc would the harmonic ballancer from the 305 work for the one on the 350

Yes, all generation 1 balancers on the SBC will interchange as they were all internally balanced except for the 400. The 400 was externally balanced and used a specific balancer and flywheel/flexplate. As for using a 305 balancer I wouldn`t. The outer ring on these balancers are known to slip and when they do you can`t get a accurate reading of the spark timing.

Technically both balancers are neutral balance and therefore interchangable, but you will have to change the timing tab or timing cover at the same time because the factory moved the position where they cut the timing line in the balancer relative to the crank keyway position. The '82 balancer has it's timing line at 12:00 and the '74 balancer has it at about 2:30, so they are not a direct interchange even though the balance is the same.
