305 V6?

Today I was in the Junkyard looking at an engine it was v6 but it looked huge, I pulled the valve covers off and saw a lard dowl for the rocker arms to rest on. The numbers i got off it are 2436645 They say its a 5.0 305 V6 I was wondering if these motors are any good? how much HP Torque did they produce or do they have potential?

re: 305 V6?

Echo, low RPM Torquey ol truck engine...not much of a performer at all, or even much potential for performance

re: 305 V6?

Old bus and truck motor with no performance value at all. I had an old GMC pick up truck with 305 and 2 speed powerglide. Used it as a farm truck. It would pull tree stumps easy but on the street is was a gas guzzling dog. It is a monster looking motor tho is't it.

Never heard of or seen one, and I'm a GM guy from way back. Who made it? Chevy, Olds, Pontiac,Buick?

re: 305 V6?

GMC truck division. The went in from 22' cargo to 3/4 ton pick ups school buses. At one point in the early 60's the 1/2 ton line used some to keep the production line going. Had a 1/2 ton for a farm truck. When you opened the hood it was impressive, it was as big as a V-8, but it was still just a truck motor.

re: 305 V6?

I think with proper tuning in a lighter half ton gmc it would flat smoke a ford tractor, just my opinion.
