307 + t400 5speed good idea or bad

im putting a 307 in my camaro and was thinking of putting a t400 out of a racing 89 is it a good idea or should i scrap the tranny idea

The biggest concern I would have is can the 307 pull the gears? I have no idea how the racing trans is set up but they are usually pretty close ratio trannies with some wild gear spreads. All you can do is try it and see.

t400---turbo 400 is a 3speed auto
T5---borg warner 5 speed manual
If you are talking about the T5 manual---putting it in a 88 camaro? Sure, but try to get pedals, linkage, and everything from the donor car to make this an easy swap. Try to make sure the tranny isn't thrashed---- T5 aren't known to be a stout drag race tranny. Can you test drive the donor vehicle? With a 307 this should be a fun setup in your camaro, and the T5 should last awhile on the streets!
