30's chevy info
whats up everyone
great site im picking up a mid 30's chevy , my uncle is giving me and its in rough shape (he forgot what year it is) in the next couple of weeks im looking for catalogs or websites for parts, mainly body thanks for any help |

There are tons of ads in Hemmings Motor news and other magazines like Hot Rod. Doing a google search with search words like 1934 body panels or similar will yield tons of hits too.

don't think your going to find much except for fiberglass fenders and front/rear aprons
try to get a picture. you'd be supproised at how much yo can work with those massively dented doors. I've beed bring mine back to shape. whats so great is the metal they used from the 30's-70's |

Be advised that GM cars prior to 1937 are structured with wood, not steel. What I mean is that the body and doors are built like a travel trailer(but of better materials), i.e. a wooden frame with sheet steel tacked, screwed and welded around it.
That makes the building of such cars with bad framing a bit more labor intensive than the normal post 36 cars as you'll have to replace the bad wood with steel tubing, etc. The good thing is that there are several posts here and elsewhere on the net that illustrate and explain this replacement and alignment process. |
