31 ford pickup

Hi all , I'm looking for a steel roof insert or a one piece replacement . Mine is completely missing . I found all the parts to return it to stock in a Mac's catalog . Thats not really the look I'm after . I'm sure many others have done this , I just don't want it to look crude or homemade .

re: 31 ford pickup

Did the 31 Ford PU have a steel roof insert? The cars had a cloth material insert. The cars that I have seen with steel roofs were modified. The small size of the roof on a truck makes it relatively easy to make a panel for it. I doubt that there is enough demand for someone to produce them. The relative inacuracy of those vehicles would make it hard to have a good fit from someone producing them anyway, since the body is just bolted together anyway.

If you don't feel up to the task, you might check with a sheetmetal shop in your area. They might want the truck there so they can make a good fit, but might find it to be an interesting project.

Metal roof section

Some fellows have used a section of roof from a van or a car to fill those with a good result..Might wish to check into that..

There are several threads here on metal work as well as at www.metalmeet.com that can be very helpful in making one of those inserts.. Some and and you have your insert..

Good luck
