31" tires instead of 3.73 gears?

I ran into a vendor at the Super Chevy Show this past weekend that said I should consider putting on 31" tires instead of changing my gears from 4.11's to 3.73's, as it would be the same effect? Anyone have any experience with this?

Depends on what size tires you are running now but yes, it will have the same effect. Tires are exactly equivalent to gears when figuring final ratios.
