32 Ford Firewall

Building a Brookville 32 roadster. This is my first 32. I have installed the Brookville firewall (copy of the original style firewall) with the rubber seal that goes between the body and firewall. The firewall is being held to the body with vise grips for now. I still have to install the firewall feet also.

I do not have a clear understanding of how a 32 firewall is permanently held in place. I guess I am also looking for what steps I should follow for final installation. Here is what I think I have to do, please critique!!
-shim body to frame.
-with firewall held to body with vise grips, position and fasten feet to firewall.
-when the body is bolted to the frame, is the firewall then put into compression and that is what holds the firewall?

Thanks in advance.

YES. The 32 is the only year early V8 Ford that you can remove the body which leaves the firewall, complete with instrument panel and wiring, bolt a seat to the frame and drive the chassis.
The front legs of the firewall originally have a spring setup similar to the radiator mounting and gas tank mounting. However, this doesn't get done when building a street rod on a modern fabricated chassis.

If you get a chance to post or send photos I would be grateful. This sounds like something I would like to do.

Here is a firewall bolted to the chassis ...

Here is a shot of the firewall and the cowl ... see where the hood hinge bracket ( chrome ) goes and holds the firewall to the body
