32 ford sedan w/underfloor master cylinder

I recently acquired a 32 ford sedan w/original frame boxed for a 350 w/700r4. The frame has a new fabricated cross member for the 700r4. Along with the car came a new master cylinder w/through the floor pedal and a fabricated bracket. The bracket is marked "32 Ford" so I assumed it was fabricated to mount to the frame under the floor. Previous owner does not know the manufacture of it as it came with car when he purchased it. I have tried all configurations but it does seem to fit with out some modifications to what remains of the old cross member (linkage arm for front axle is mounted to this so leary of any modification). Is it normal to make modifications to mount a master cylinder? Guess I will have to do the belly crawl at next cruise in.

As a 32 Ford owner and a Moderator here ...
I would like to WELCOME YOU here ...

It is very common the mount the master cylinder under the floor. I have both of my 32's done this way. In the old days we mounted a early 60's Chevrolet master cylinder on the firewall and used swinging pedals ... but under the floor is so much neater ...

This is two photos of the setup I use. My pedal came from Total Cost Involved ... in California ... already prefabricated and it was just added to the original frame rails.

You may find my project journal with more photos of 32 chassis construction at http://www.hotrodders.com/forum/jour...ge=1&reverse=1

Again WELCOME to Hotrodders.com

Deuce ...

Thanks for the reply and pics. I have seen those pics some place in my research. My dilemma is that I still have part of the original cross member. It is like a large > coming off of the side of the rail. The rod from the front axle is mounted to this via a bracket. It looks like I will have to modify this - fabricate a an angle like yours and remount the front bar. Just was wondering if others with original frames have done this.
