32 hi boy chrome front suspension

OK here is my predicament:

Due to possible cash flow issues, I have ordered my 32 hi boy rolling package with steel hair pins, I-beam, etc. on the front. I figure as soon as the cash appears, I can unbolt it and have it chromed. My builder says it will cost me 1K to upgrade to the chrome TCI package before he ships the whole thing to me.

If I keep on my present course and get it in bare steel, I'll probably just spray the suspension parts with WD40 or a light oil to keep the rust at bay while I'm completing the buildup and until I can get the $ for chrome.

Questions:

Has anybody gone through this? I've had small parts chromed before, but nothing as big as a complete front suspension. Should I "do whatever it takes" to find the 1k now, or will it be no big deal (possibly cheaper?) to have it done later?

As always, thanks for the input!

SAVE UP and pay the man..............

TCI has good chrome............I know......mine is TCI.

Most good chrome shops get $400 or more for a bumper (40 Ford). I just had 2 done.

Besides if you are like a lot of US.......it will never get chromed once it gets to your house.........

Once you get the stuff there and get going with it, are you really going to be able to let go of it long enough to get it chromed?

I would wait and get it done before it arrives at your door.

For some reason hard news is easier to take coming from someone else.

I think I knew the answer before I asked the question...

I'm calling him today and telling him to upgrade me to the chrome package. When I told my wife about the extra 1k, she said "don't worry about it, we'll find it when the time comes." It is REALLY a bonus having a spouse who is excited with you!
