I'm glad the op sold his hood to someone who was in dire need of an original ford peice.
Rootlieb reproduces and sells both the 25 and 20 louver 32 hoods in steel. Less than 600.00 complete for a really nice reproduction.

Later, mikey

Actually, the repro hoods are so far off looking than a original 25 vent 32 Ford hood that Ray Charles could tell the difference ... before he died

See the difference ? the sedan has a repro 25 vent hood. All the vents are just alike. They just add more vents to their repro 20 vent hood ... unlike Henry Ford who had a bunch of different shapes and sizes on the vents of his 25 vent hoods.

I have original 25 vent 32 Ford hoods on both of my 32 Fords ... and they are worth 20 degrees of underhood ambient temperature ... on my cars.

The front and rear vents are closed ... that leaves the other 23 open. As you can see in the below photo, the vents are opened up a lot more on the 25 vent hoods and the vents are also longer. I have seen 25 vent hoods bring over 5 grand on eBay. I gave $300 for the one on my 32 roadster ( in 1977 ) and a little more than that for the one on my 32 3W ... but I have had them both ( and a few extras ) for a LONG time.

I have turned down over $3,500 ... for one of my spare 25 vent hoods. Stupid money but ... they are not making original 32 Ford 25 vent hoods anymore ... they are still printing TONS of money.

As a side note, the Henry Ford 25 vent hood was released on August the 18th, 1932. It was to be ONLY on V8 vehicles going to warm climates. Also ALL of the32 Ford sedan deliveries came with a 25 vent hood. All of the 1932 Ford sedan deliveries were built in the month of October ... 1932.

Well 32, we finally agree on something now thanks to mike shareing his knowlage we all learned something here... and with an intelligent conversation some very good points were brought up like: repos suck, .... you guys that know these cars can spot one right off, ..... I learnd the sides of the cover are still called the hood.....again we were ALL right. Thanks for the call last night ,mike youv"e been very helpful I'm going to post mt two favorite 32 pics with the link thing .....it might take a minute....if I get it that is.....CRAP!!!! it didnt work...Well,OK I'll be the first to admit I know little about these 32s other than I want one(a dead one)am of the impression that anyone that louvers a orig top should be shot or at least hung.....but then again its their car to do with as they please......Thats where I was going....so much valuable knowlage has been lost by old timers taking their secrets to the grave its not funny.since my boy has no intrest in building cars,I'm dumping everything I know right here at hotrodders mabee I'll do some good before I go

Yes, James Brown and Michael Jackson also

Here is a photo of my 32 Ford roadster taken at the NSRA Nationals back in 1973. I still have this 25 vent hood ... ( as a spare )
I replaced it with one I bought in 1977 that fit the car better.
Even Henry Ford original hoods vary a little ... from hood to hood. Production tolerances ( like even today ) do vary.

Interesting stuff I didn't have a clue of. Deuce, just out of curiosity, how did they punch the first and last louvers if they aren't open, did they just not cut the metal when it was punched? Nice looking cars.

On the end vents, I believe that the die was punched separately and not to be opened. It gives the hood strength ... Sort of like bead rolling a flat piece of metal for strength.

The 1933 and 1934 Ford hoods have vents very similar to the 25 vent 1932 Ford hoods. Similar in that they are very open. Henry's V8 flatheads are famous for wanting to overheat ... so the need for better cooling became obvious as time went on.

This 32 5W belongs to a friend of mine ... see how open the vents are and how well you can see the engine. A original 1932 Ford 25 vent hood is almost like not having hood sides on your car ( cooling wise ).

The underhood ambient temperature is reduced 20 degrees ... on a 32 equipped with a original 25 vent hood. In cooler weather, I have been sitting at a traffic signal and put my arm out to indicate a left turn ... and could feel the HEAT coming off the engine, thru those big vents.

I like the original 25 vent hoods because it allows the engine to be seen ... yet still retains the " stock " look ... and because they are somewhat RARE

The hood tops have been modified ... with louvers Factory issued 1932 Fords do not have these but a lot of Hotrodders add louvers for cooling or just for " looks " .My friends is just for looks, as his little " Deuce Coupe " does not run hot.

Deuce is slang ... for two. They are 19 thirty TWO Fords so they have been called Deuces since before you or I were ever born. Go here here for a little background on 1932 Fords

You folks have a nice day
