32 Roadster Steering Column

Hey again, everyone.

I've checked out Flaming River and Ididit for column shift steering columns, and they both come in around $500 (with shipping).

Does anyone have a suggestion for a good used donor model? I was thinking musclecar - era Chevys would be a good place to start. The less plastic the better.

What about Camaros or Chevelles? I don't know the length I need yet, I'm just wondering if anyone out there knows of a particular donor model that has worked well for someone.

As always, thanks for your time!

McDeuce

Hi McDeuce,

I like the old stuff. The 40 Ford column is my favorite. I use one to shift a Chevy standard trans and a friend uses one to shift a turbo 350. The tube is small for more foot room and looks more in place in the car than the big columns. The shift tube is above the steering tube so the lever to the trans is higher wich gives more room for the petals to pass by.The 40 delux wheel looks super in a deuce. The other top choice is the 39 banjo. Both avail. repo. The 39 wheel takes a little work to fit on a 40 column but looks super. 40 columns are common at swap meets and run from$15 to $40 or so. Good luck
