The 327

I am going to build a 327 for a 1968 camaro Rs. It will be a street car but I want it to have some balls! What do you guys suggest? I like the idea of a screamer, Should I stroke it? I have built some 350's but I am told a 327 is a little diffrent. Like I know That the crank is small journoul and the stoke is diffrent and I know that the wrist pin on the piston is set diffrent. What all can I use from my 350 performance stuff? Please help!

Is the 327 the original '68 ...if so then its a large journal and its basically the same block as a 350. Just get a 350 crank and pistons and whatever else you decide you need and you're set.

Gotta watch out for those '68 327's. Some early '68 cars got the '67-spec engines leftover from the '67 model year, so check to make sure.

the 327

Well this 327 is out of a 1967 camaro that we had first, We were ran off the road by a drunk driver and plowed it into a tree. We found this 1968 camaro garage kept with a 6 cyl. So the motors were swaped. this car has a 2 speed powerglide tranny and I have no idea of the gear, We once thought we would push the outer limits of this car and ran 120 in first@ about 7700 rpm! It didn't hurt the motor (I don't think) but we did throw all the belts off!
