327 235hp heads - accessory holes

Hey guys,

So I have this 69 chevy 327 in my garage and it's complete from oil pan to carb (but no valve covers or timing cover). I was looking at the heads... they're small port 185 heads for a 235hp motor... but anyway it seems that both heads have 3 accessory holes in one end and one hole in the other end. When I put them on the engine, that means that one head has 3 holes facing the front and the other only has the one hole..

Aren't both heads supposed to have 3 accessory holes up front? Or does it not matter?

Thanks!

Depends if you need to bolt anything to them....AC, PS, alternator.....I would imagine that whatever was needed in 69 is there

3 holes on one side and 1 on the other is how it worked all the way up til they converted to serpentine systems. The alternator bolts on to the passengers side on the V belt system, it only had 1 bolt in the head. The upper of the alternator was bolted to a bracket that mounted to the water pump and the intake manifold.
The other side the A/C bracket mounted to, and it used 3 bolts in the head.
No matter what heads you find, there is no 3 bolt head that will bolt on to the passengers side and there`s no 1 bolt head that will bolt on the drivers side as all heads came with 3 bolt holes on one end, 1 on the other, and if you take the drivers side head off and put it on the passengers side now the 3 bolt holes are in the rear and the 1 bolt hole is in the front.
