Recently I blew my engine in my 62 Chevy C10. It was a good running 327 with Camelback heads, (1.94/1.50) a mild cam, Edelbrock intake and 650 cfm carb, Heddman Hedders. This weekend I found a deal on a virgin 327/275hp out of a 64 SS Impala that had only 64,000 miles on it. Due to low budget I plan on just cleaning it up and dropping it in. I was wondering if anyone had any hints to give a little more pep for not too much money. I was thinking a mild cam and a stall converter. Any suggestions?? Thanks...jc

The 275hp 327 should also have camelbacks on it. I think the only external things you might want to change are the intake and carb. I believe the 275 and the 300 hp shared the same 929 cam.

Yeah, it does have Camelbacks. I was planning on using the intake and carb from my old motor. How do you feel about the cam for the 327-350hp that Crane offers?

It may be a little "old school", but it's not a bad cam for a 327. I had one in my 383 and swapped it out for a Comp XE274 and really didn't notice that much difference.

That 350 HP cam will do right nice in that motor. If you are going to spend $$ for a cam, look at matching the intake rpm specs. If you get a good dual plane like the performer and use a vacuum secondary 600 cfm carb or a q-jet you will get good performance. Mileage will depend on your gears and driving style.

The intake I have is a dual plane. It is an Edelbrock Performer RPM. The carb is also and Edelbrock 650 Thunder Series. The truck has 3.73 posi-trac rearend.
