327 or 350
i have a sbc with the casting #s 3970010 with a 4 bolt main is there any way to tell if its 327 or 350
|
Measure the stroke.......
Its a 350.....there were no 327s with 4 bolt mains........Of course, this fact has been disputed many times |
There should be a suffix code stamped just in front of the passenger side cylinder head. Look that up and it'll tell you what you have. Or you can pull the oil pan off and check the casting number on the crank. Chances are very high that it's a 350 though. The 3970010 casting number was used throughout the 70s.

I don't need to look anything up to know there was no 4-bolt SJ production SBC engine. 327 or otherwise.
