327 crank

What shape is the flange on a 1968-69 327 crank? It would help me next time I'm at a swap meet.
Thanks

327 crank flange shape.

Just went out to the garage, and looked at my #4672 large journal 327 crank flange. Basically, it looks just like a 350, BUT, the crank flange balance pad is only about 1/4", while on my 350 cast crank, it's about 7/8". No scanner or digital camera so I can't post a pic. Why not just go to MORTEC.COM and get the casting numbers you need to look for, half the people selling stuff don't even know what they have, and will tell you almost anything to make a sale.

327 crank

I found something on carcraft http://www.carcraft.com/techfaq/116...ide/index1.html. It showed some shapes of the flanges but not all. It sounds like the 327 flange is the same as the 307. Take a look and tell me what you think. I have read that the 307 crank and 327 crank are balanced different. I was hoping to tell while a motor was still assembled.

Large-journal cast 307 & 327 cranks carry the same part number in the GM catalog, so the factory balance is the same. The book shows '68 & '69 having different part numbers, but it does not say how they differ between the years.

327 crank

That's good to know, thank you. I know that a 68 motor has no bolt holding the balancer on and a 69 does - for 350 anyway.
Thanks guys
