just do the basic hot rod stuff, cam,carb, ignition, exhaust, use your head and try to get a good combination, if you are inexperienced you can rely on the high perf kits put out by companies like edelbrock, or talk to a tech guy at an established machine or speed shop, or the people at Summit or Jegs etc. All the high horsepower talk makes you want to build a world beater but keep your engine on the conservative side and you will get more enjoyment out of it.
