327 sbc carb size ?
I have a .040 over large journal 327 in my model A hot rod, 350 transmission, 3.00 geared nine inch rear. Motor has, 4.65 lift cam, MSD ignition (no vacuum advance), performer aluminum heads (70-170), performer manifold, 600 cfm carb, lakester headers. I have 2500 miles on it since May when I finished the build. So far I'm happy with the results. We just put 600 miles on it, my gas mileage was appoximatly 15.5. The timing is 32 total (12-20). I know it's running a bit rich. I changed jets and rods as per Edelbrock chart but it seems to run best at factory settings. I'm wondering if a 500 cfm carb would be more suited to this motor? I was running about 2650 RPM to get that mileage. Any suggestions?
