Post 327 Vette Engine strange oil hole

Need help in identifying an 'oil bearing' about 3/4 inch in size ....port ...on the side of the block of an engine I have. The hole is just above the oil filter ****embly about three inches...it is not in or into the oil filter area.
It does produce oil if the engine was running ...how much I don't know cause I blocked it off as soon as I realized what it was doing. I am told the engine is from a Corvette but I have never seen an oil hole in the block in this location can anyone tell me what this is for. I had suspected it might be oil cooling port but where would the return be? As it is a single port. and it is unthreaded how would an oil cooler attach to this????

If the hole is just above where the oil filter "dome" is on the block, it should be threaded and plugged. I'm thinking it might be a hole where the clutch "Z" bar linkage might have gone, but (I think) that should have been threaded. Some Z bars were located in the block, others were in the bellhousing. Maybe the factory didn't thread them for the vettes. In any event, plug whatever it is.

Its the Z bar stud hole as MI2600 stated and some of these tend to be drilled a little deep and can hit oil...
