33 & 34 hood and side pannel difference.

Hello , I Bought A 33 Ford 3 Window Coupe, (glass) To Rebuild. The Hood Was Bought New, By The Owner Before Me. The Hood & Side Panels Do Not Fit Properly. I Think It Has A 34 Hood , It Is Said That 33 & 34 Hoods Are Different From Each Other. One Is Longer Than The Other, Also A 33 Hood Has A Rolled Edge On Front Leading Edge And The 34 Doesn`t. Can Anyone Tell Me The Difference Between The 34 & The 33 Hoods. I Have A Metal Hood And Side Panels. Maybe Tell Me Where To Measure & How Long Each Hood Should Be, And What Ever You Can Help Me With, About The Hoods.i Need To Find Out Witch One I Have. A Few Have Told Me That The Grills Are Different Also, ( I HAVE A GLASS GRILL). Maybe Some One Can Help ,telling The Difference In Them Also,if Any. Thanks To Anyone That Can Lend Me Some Smarts. My 4 piece Rootlieb hood on my 34 has a rolled edge at the front on all four panels, the rear does not. The 34 hood has a cutout around the radiator cap. I also have glass car and I had to do quite a bit of massaging both to the body and the rear of the hood.

The below shots were taken befor I made the hood match the body at the rear and sides

The original 33 hood has one handle in the middle and curved louvers. The hood and side panels have a bead at the front edge and the hood is a little longer to meet up with the smaller grille shell.

I don't know much about fiberglass body manufacturing but I don't think anyone makes a "33" body. The only real difference in the body would be the side of the cowl at the bottom doesn't have a hole for the rear 34 hood latch. The 33 used a braket that rivited on. And the 33 had no hood prop spot on the top of the firewall/cowl top. Other than that, they are pretty much indentical. The doors are different in that the window didn't have a "vent" mode as the 34 did.

the before stated hood info is spot on.
the 1 thing i will ad is about the grille. the stock 33 grille is flatter than the 34 . most glass cars take extra work to match the grille/hood areas and fenders if you have/use them.

good luck with your project.

re:33-34 hood differences

Hey guys,
The quickest way to spot the difference in the hood side panels on 33 ford and a 34 Ford is the 33' only has one handle in the lower center on the hood side and the 34' has two handles on each side , one near the front and one at the rear of the hood side.

The louvers in the 33 hood are slightly curved as well. The 34s are straight.

Does your car have the fenders and runningboards in one piece?? If so you have a Street Beast. If you do vitually NO reproduction parts will fit it as it is not a reproduction Ford car but rather a Florida Fiberglass Mfgr's concept of one.
