333881 or 14102187

my mechanic said my 350 is cold firing on 3 and 5. could be my head gasket or a cracked cylinder head, I am flat *** broke, and am still driving it even though its hitting on 6. yes I would love some 062 vortecs, but I have to live with what I have. If my 333881s are not cracked, should I keep them, or I also have a set of 14102187 1.94 that i received in a trade. what would get my truck fro 0 - 100 the fastest?

The 187's started life as 1.84" intake valves- you sure they have 1.94's in them now? They are swirl port 305 heads, in any event.

I'm guessing the 881's are the small valve, large chamber heads- if they're not ruined, they might be a better choice, in that the 305 heads have 58cc nominal chambers and might run the CR up too high for pump gas.

Don't know *** "cold firing" is- it's either firing or it isn't. Have you run a compression test to see what that shows you? If both 3 and 5 are low, you prolly have a blown head gasket. If that's the case, you might get by w/replacing the head gasket w/a composite gasket until you can afford to put decent heads on it.

the guy that traded me for them said it was off of a racing engine he was making and made a special point about the valves being 1,94. I measured them, and thats the case.

So compression test it- adjacent cylinders showing both low readings is almost always a blown HG between the two cylinders. Whether or not the deck is warped I cannot say- it will need to be measured. If it doesn't have more than about 0.004"-0.005" warpage across the head, throw a 0.041" composite head gasket on it and let 'er rip.
