34 Ford fuel tank question

Got a question for the experts. On my 34 Ford project I have a steel 16 gallon Tanks Inc. fuel tank. The original filler neck location on the 34 Ford has it coming through the fuel tank cover between the rear fenders. I would like to do away with the filler neck sticking out the fuel tank cover. The attached photo is of the tank on my car. You can see the intended location of the fuel filler neck on the corner of the tank that is taped over. I am considering blocking off the original location with a plate, and moving the filler neck to the location that it is shown in the photo. This would put the filler neck through the floor of the trunk and out of sight. The only problem I can see with it, is now it will be below the two raised areas of the tank and gas will probably not be able to fill those two areas. Tanks Inc. says to not fill the tank completely to allow for expansion anyway, so I really do not see a problem with it...waddyall think?

re: 34 Ford fuel tank question

Vince.... I am not an expert in fuel tanks. For that matter, I am not an expert in anything, atleast that is what my wife tells me. It does appear to me that those raised areas are just for expansion anyway. I don't see how you could fill them without vents to let out the air that is trapped there. I don't see any problem with your plan.
