Post 34 ford truck front axle ideas and questions

looking to rebuild my truck's front end, and would appreciate any thoughts, suggestions or warnings. It has a original (50") axle, a wishbone suspended under the frame by a homemade tube steel beam ( no x- member). I like the traditional straight axle so Mustang II is out, but have considered tube or beam axle with hairpins or splitting the wishbone. Has anybody used the "fatman" vintage IFS? (split tube axle)
Hoping to use vega cross steer to allow for better column/ motor mount placement.
What is a good width for the axle?

I have the Magnum brand strait axle under my 1930 Model A, and I have been real happy with it. Magnum used GM rotors and calipers, so finding replacement parts when needed is easy. You might contact Magnum to determin what the best size would be for your particular car.
