Hey! That thing looks GREAT!!! Way to go man! When a counter person advised you against DC3000, they did you right. That is a fast production clear. Not what I'd use for an all-over either. |

Vince, the car looks beautiful!
One small piece of advice would be about those fender bra's or whatever they are called. I know they serve a purpose but I would strongly recommend when not driving you take them off. They may not cause a problem but over the years i have seen many cause a problem and most of the problem was when the car was stored with them on, changes in temperature or wide swings seem to play the biggest roll. No different then the paint being waterproof, to a point it is, so leave your hood in a river for a month and pull it out, it will be fine, leave in 3-6 months without coming out and it will start bubbling. Ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure! |

I only use it when on long drives, short drives I do not. I never keep it on for long periods and remove it after driving. Thanks for the compliment, you had a lot to do with how it came out. Your advice was invaluable.

Hey there Barry!
I'll totally back up the car bra advise. That goes for any of them, on any kind of car. Leaving a bra on too long is just a bad thing. Screwed up the factory paint on a little Mazda B2200 low-rider of my own years ago with one of those things. But, they do serve a good purpose. In moderation. |

Oh I have seen and had calls on some fine cars where the paint was just totally destroyed because of those things. Then again only a person with a fine car is going to use them. The worse ever, I saw, was a 57 Chevy, that had a paint job that would make you lay down and cry for, well the owner took the car home had one of these bra’s made for it, before the car was done, so day he took car home he waxed the area where the cover fits 4 times over the fresh paint and then put the cover on. One month later, it looked like he had applied paint stripper and then covered it up while the stripper was still wet. One common call I get about once a year, is someone with a yellow car and they take the cover off for winter and the paint where the cover was does not match the rest of the car. Only certain yellows will do this but some yellow tints will adjust with light, seems to me DuPont use to tell shops before matching a yellow keep car inside for either 24-48 hours before painting. The yellow ones will work out there own problem with time in sun light. Always make sure your car cover “is not” waterproof! Water resistant, ok but that does mean water will seep though a little and that is what you want. |

I'm a big braless fan myself.....you just cant beat the braless wet look of a thin cotton cover especially if its cold out....those high beams shine right through it..

Wow
Hey Vince, What a ride, you deserve to be proud of yourself. The car looks like someone who has a special touch. I like the comradeship displayed in this build, it seems that new and old have followed it. It's what I think this forum should be about, or made of, however you want to put it. A completed rod should be celebrated. Cheers, Olnolan
P.S.- Working out the bugs will be the best part, project is done!! |
