Vince, You're not going to be able to blame any mishaps on prep, it looks like you've got that booth ready to rock and roll! Let the fan run for awhile before you shoot if time permits. Thumbs up on the job you're doing! It looks top notch IMO

Thanks Bob, I really appreciate the comments. I have the luxury of having a bunch of very good guys in the club who are eager to get their hands dirty and help out. The guy who's shop we are using used to have a body shop and he is an excellent body and paint man, that is his 67 SS Chevelle in the pics. He has been watching me, but after a while he said I need no more watching. I have second thoughts about that .

My fenders and running boards are on tap for paint this coming weekend if I can devote enough time during the week to get them blocked.

Gonna shoot some more paint tomorrow. Spent most of today starting at 6am sanding, priming, sanding and priming again on the front fenders, rear fenders and running boards. That is the remains of $200 a gallon K36 you see on the driveway.

This fender is ready for paint. Started blocking with 80 grit on the bare fiberglass, followed by two heavy coats of Omni MX241 polyester primer blocked again with 180, followed by two heavy coats of PPG K36. Started wet sanding by dusting on 3M Dry Guide Coat, blocked first with 320 wet, followed by 600 wet for the finish.

could you provide me with the paint info or code?? It looks like HOK Passion Pearl, however you mentioned PPG when you spoke of primer. Any info would be appreciated. That looks like the color I'm looking for...

I sure like the simple design of those three legged stands in the pics.

Yeah, real hi tech. Some bent rebar, but they work pretty well. Got everything painted today, spent all day in the booth. Only had one uh oh when the air hose came in contact with one of the running boards that had just been shot with base. After it flashed I tried to wet sand it and apply a little more base hoping it would hide it. It did not, so I didn't clear that running board. Will do some work on it at home then re-shoot the base then clear. I got three good heavy coats of clear on everything. I think I am going to try BarryK's Perfect Paint Job routine on the exterior pieces. It will probably require four total gallons of clear, hey, it's only money. too far along to start getting cheap now. I will return to the paint booth tomorrow afternoon to retrieve everything and I will post some pics then.

Thank you very much for the recipe. It already said $$$$ to me just having the 'PPG' label on there, the 'K' must really be bad!! Sure is a pretty color, a bit darker than HOK's Passion Pearl which I also like.

It's actually a 2005 Chrysler color.

I did take a few pictures as I was getting ready to call it quits for the evening. This shot is of my running boards. The one near has three coats of clear the far one has no clear as it is the one I need to correct a bobo on the base coat.
