I have ran several setups on my 347 as well, for a nice daily driver I recommend the E-303 cam, you can get almost the exact same cam from comp for 100 dollars less, and I have had very good luck with comp. If you don't have the roller hardware I once found a spider,dog bones and lifters on e bay for 50 bucks! good price! (they were used but good)

As for carb, I have tried the edelbrock 800cfm carb on my truck and could never get it to run right. I then put a holly 750 double pumper mechanical secondaries carb on it and it ran great right out of the box. I was very impressed with the holly carb.

The intake I ran was a dual plain Edelbrock, it was a good intake. Also put in a 2300 stall torque converter it makes a world of difference and if driven normally you wont even notice you have a high stall in your car.

A few years later I took it apart and put custom made pistons in it and put a holly 174 blower on it with the 7psi boot pulley, Ill tell you that thing moved! Unfortunately not for to long though, I ended up bending the snout on the crank from the force of the blower. I found out later that a forged crank would have been better choice than the hardened cast Eagle crank. But I guess that is just the way it goes sometimes.

Cam: 275-280, comps are nice, a roller woudl REALLY get you that bottom end due to good ramp speeds (not friction like most people think). A cam in that range would give you some decent chop and pretty good low power. You could go a little smaller if that much bothers you, especially if you go roller.

Carb, no bigger than 600-630. Bigger is NOT better with carbs because you want the smallest possable that will give you your power, it helps keep the airflow velocity up and give you the low end torque you're looking for.

A nice bite can be gotten from a stall converter, you wouldn't have to go above 2000-2400 and it would give you a great launch. This is a must.

A correction is in order,the GT40 head there is no problem with headers,the GT40P is a PITA when it comes to headers.WOW! just realized this is an old,old,post before my beard turned all grey.
